The power of these materials is to stimulate discussion and to build language.The fact that discussion is a valuable aid to learning is now proven. It is well accepted that talk in whatever context can deepen a student’s understanding. As such discussion is an essential social skill which consolidates personal experiences and responses.

At a very minimum the postcards provide a rich opportunity for students to learn the vocabulary of particular attributes and to develop an insight into the vocabulary of comparatives and superlatives.
