Calculators in the Primary Classroom

"There is evidence to show that pupils' facility with number and their understanding of basic concepts will improve significantly if calculators are used appropriately. An ATM Heritage Publication

We are re-discovering out-of-print publications like this with a timeless quality and frequently requested. They are now available again as ATM Heritage publications.

The cheap electronic calculator is here, it is part of everyday life, children will grow up in a world where the calculator is taken for granted. Many articles and books have been written about calculators during the last few years and we hope that this collection of articles selected from "Mathematics in Schools" and "Mathematics Teaching" will provide a useful and interesting resource.

These articles have been selected as a reference set showing the ideas developed by members of the two professional associations concerned with the teaching of mathematics.
