Polygons - Dot to Dot

People of all ages enjoy a dot to dot puzzle.

These exercises involve joining sets of dots together to complete a given design shown on the same page. The designs are based upon standard tilings. The spaces between the tiles have been developed by joining up vertices, and further points of intersection, to create new tiles.

There are also full pages of completed designs. They are there to show possible effects of extending the designs, remembering that tessellations and tiling patterns cover the infinite plane not just pages.

The completed designs can be enlarged on a photocopier to make effective displays. You might use colour to create patterns that emphasise the reflective symmetry, leave fewer mirror lines or leave only rotational symmetry.
