Q.E.D.: Beauty in Mathematical Proof

How the publisher describes it:

“In this delicious little book, top mathemagician, Dr Polster, presents some of the most visually intuitive and exciting proofs from the dusty annals of mathematical history. See if you can follow the logic, before jumping into pure mathemagnosis and experiencing a eureka-moment for yourself!”

Review by Peter Hall

In brief:

This book could hardly fail to amuse and educate - whether to an audience of maths teachers, or interested students. This is a real gem.

“Another stunningly beautiful little book from Wooden Books”

Another stunningly beautiful little book from Wooden Books - and such a good topic to choose for an amazingly well illustrated book. Proof is something I suspect many of our students find far more beautiful - but this book does a superb job in presenting proofs very carefully and very simply - in short in makes them look beautiful. Whether looking at 0.99999...=1 or Pythagoras’ Theorem every diagram is clear and will be easily understood.

From Euclid’s Elements to Knotting Polygons there is a world of interesting ideas presented to the reader. Circles, Cones, prime numbers, dominoes, an infinite staircase... the list seems endless.

This book could hardly fail to amuse and educate - whether to an audience of maths teachers, or interested students. This is a real gem.
