Move on Maths!
How the publisher describes it:
“Maths resources for nine to eleven years for you to use in the way that is most suitable for your pupils. The units give you flexible ideas, rather then prescriptive lessons and support the Renewed Primary Framework for mathematics. The PNS Framework objectives are clearly shown for every sheet, followed by unit learning outcomes.”
Review by Val Griffiths
In brief:
A useful resource for activities to consolidate or assess learning.
“You do need to think carefully about differentiation”
This book has around 50 photocopiable worksheets, linked to the framework, that allow pupils to practise and consolidate their understanding. Each sheet comes with clear teacher’s notes which inform you of what prior knowledge the children need to be able to complete them.
I have used them in my Year 6 class, and found them useful as starter activities and when doing one-to-one tuition. They could also easily be used as homework tasks; a quick way to asses independent understanding. In Year 5 the class teacher has used some of the using and applying activities as evidence for APP.
Some pages have challenge activities which should support the more able, although you do need to think carefully about differentiation if using with a bigger group or class.
