ATM ‘Making Mathematics’ Day Conferences
There are currently no day conferences planned. But details will be here when they are.
The day conferences held in Derby on 22 June and in Leicester on 25 June 2005 were a great success. The Leicester day was organised in conjunction with the East Midlands branch which is a joint ATM/MA branch and John Leigh, the Professional Officer for the MA joined us for the day and ran an MA bookstall as well.
The conference aims were to offer:
- different sessions for primary and secondary teachers
- a wealth of practical ideas to motivate and challenge learners
- ideas for using ICT to teach mathematics
- the opportunity to share experiences and ideas with committed fellow professionals
- the opportunity for teachers to reflect on their practice
Delegates were asked to rate on a scale of 1 (very well) to 5 (not at all) how well the conference had achieved these aims for them. 88% of the delegates at the two conferences gave the top rating of 1.
The Leicester conference was attended by nearly 50 delegates, who took advantage of the special prices on the ATM bookstall and spent over £1500.
