These 16 images explore ideas and some concepts associated with pattern, shape and much more - includes an 8 page booklet of teachers notes. Out and About is a carefully chosen collection that explores ideas around some of the concepts associated with pattern.
The purpose of these classroom materials is to stimulate discussion and to build up language. Discussion as an aid to learning is well understood and talk in the appropriate context is seen to deepen a student’s understanding in class, the question - “What do you see?” is always a rich starter for generating discussion and an eventual sharing of ideas.
Whenever students represent what they see by what they say, they are given the opportunity to test ideas. At a very minimum these full colour thematic photographs provide a rich and colourful opportunity for students to learn and use the vocabulary of particular attributes and extend their vocabulary.
