NRICHing Mathematics with Liz Woodham of the NRICH project

Thank you to those of you who have already booked for the meeting on Saturday 2nd February 2008, it will be held in the Frazer Noble Hall at 2 University Rd, Leicester. A university map is here.

There will be a book stall, so remember to bring some cash, or a cheque if you are thinking of making any purchases, we cannot take card payments.

We still have a few places left, so do book soon if you want to come by replying to Ruth Tanner, Chair of the East Midlands branch of the ATM/MA.

NRICHing Mathematics: by Liz Woodham of the NRICH project

Cost £3, free for student teachers.

Time from 9.30 am - 12.00 noon, Saturday 2nd February.

Based at the University of Cambridge, www.nrich.maths.org provides thousands of free resources which are designed to develop subject content knowledge and problem-solving and thinking skills. Drawing on the website, Liz will lead a session exploring problems that:

• can be solved in a variety of ways;
• have multiple solutions;
• encourage students to explore new environments;
• require application of mathematical knowledge and skills.
