Developing Key Processes at KS3

With Malcolm Swan (University of Nottingham)

Professional Development Resources from the Bowland Project

The new KS3 Programmes of Study lay renewed emphasis on developing the ‘Key Processes’: representing a situation in mathematical terms, analysing models, interpreting, evaluating and communicating the results.

During the past year, Malcolm Swan and his colleagues at Nottingham have been developing 'case studies' and online professional development resources that foster the development of these processes and examine the pedagogical implications. These are now becoming freely available to all schools in England. In this session, we will look at a few examples of the activities developed and watch videos of several classrooms. We will discuss implications for classroom practice and assessment.

Wednesday 15th October 2008.

7.00 for 7.15pm start. Finishing 8.45pm.

There will be an AGM starting at 6.30pm - all welcome
